IPv4
IPv4 addresses are shorter and usually appear as four number groups separated by dots, such as 203.0.113.10.
IPv6
IPv6 addresses are longer and use letters and numbers separated by colons. IPv6 exists because the internet needed many more possible addresses.
Which one should I have?
Either can work. Some connections use IPv4, some use IPv6, and many use both.
