An IP address helps internet services send information back to the right connection. It is not a name, phone number, or exact home address.
Public vs local IP
Your public IP is visible to websites. Your local IP is used inside your home or office network and usually is not visible to websites.
Why it changes
Many internet providers rotate IP addresses. Mobile networks and VPNs can also change the IP that websites see.
