What ISP means

ISP stands for Internet Service Provider. It can be a broadband company, mobile carrier, office network, university network, public Wi-Fi provider, VPN provider, or hosting network.

How websites estimate your ISP

IP lookup services compare your public IP address with network ownership records and routing data. This can usually identify the provider or organization responsible for that IP range.

Why the ISP name can look different

Sometimes the provider name shown is a parent company, regional network, mobile gateway, or enterprise network. If you use a VPN, the ISP may appear as the VPN or data center network instead of your normal provider.

Is ISP detection exact?

ISP lookup is useful, but it is not a perfect identity check. Treat it as network information, not proof of who is using the connection.
